School authorities accused of threatening parents

KANPUR: Parents and guardians are once again up in arms against the private school authorities for allegedly threatening few students and misbehaving with the parents for raising objection against the fee hike. Chief executive of Indian Parents' Welfare Association (IPWA) Umang Agarwal, while talking to TOI said, "the strength of the Association seemed less in the last two meetings held by the Association members, as few of the parents were found to be missing. When contacted, the parents informed us about the rude attitude of the school management." Few parents had complained that the school Principal too misbehaved with them when they went to the school for depositing the fees, said Agarwal. "They literally scolded us and even claimed of charging fine on our students as we have been raising objections against the fee hike or didn't pay in time," alleged a parent, who did not wish to be named. It was also alleged by one of the parents that the school management have even tried to lure a few parents who have been active in the protest. "Initially few of our counterparts were receiving calls of giving up this protest as the school authorities would not be charging any extra penny in the increased admission fees to their students, but instead of joining hands with the school management, the parents denied the proposal," pointed Agarwal. Parents have now decided to keep united and wait for the Government Order (GO). "We in no case, would be lured by any offer by the schools. Rather, we are planning to ask an explanation from those schools who have given such a proposal. But now, it would be the committee headed by commissioner which would seek an explanation from them on our behalf," said another parent on the condition of anonymity, who is also a member of IPWA.
