KANPUR: Joining the anti-fee hike protest, nearly 150 guardians of studentsof Delhi Public School, Kalyanpur, march to the school on Tuesday. The guardians got united under the banner of Kanpur Abhibhavak Sangh. They assembled at Mantora Public School at around 8.30 am and walked a kilometre to reach DPS. The protestor were carrying flowers. The parents wanted to hand over a memorandum to the principal. They were not allowed to meet the principal and stopped by the guards and security personnel at the gate. The guardians said that the tuition fees had gone up exorbitantly. The school had raised the quarterly fees by Rs 1,400. Parents claimed that less than 40 per cent of the fee charged is spent on students. "How many schools are actually paying teachers as per the Pay Commission norms?" questioned Anurag Singh, a member of the Abhibhavak Sangh. "Some schools earn lakhs of rupees as profits every year and the government is allowing them to hike fees annually. There should be a check on how the schools are spending the money they charge from students," demanded another demonstrator outside the school. Sanjay Shukla, president of the association, said that despite the `mindless' increase in fees, the state government and the district administration had maintained silence on the issue. The members added that they will organise a demonstration near Phool Bagh and then outside Vidhan Sabha in Lucknow. "We are waiting for the elections to get over and for things to settle down in Parliament," said Satyendra Mishra of the association.http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Parents-protest-against-fee-hike/articleshow/4521797.cms
